Aquamarine gemstones are semi-precious blue-green variety of gemstones belonging to the beryl classification of minerals. Despite being mined all over the world, the best quality of aquamarine stones are said to come from the Santa Maria de Itabira mine in Brazil. Today aquamarine stones with the same hues as those found in Brazil are called ’Santa Maria’. The stone itself can be compared to that of an emerald due to both stones belonging to the same classification. Due to the green-blue hue of the gemstone, it suits all skin tones. The deeper or more vibrant the shade of blue, the higher this gemstone is priced. Aquamarine is also said to be the March birthstone and a 19th wedding anniversary present. It has also been said that this stone has the power to heal those with swollen glands.
