At the end of 2012, jeweler and explorer Yanni Melas discovered a mineral he had never seen before while trying to abandon his search for diamonds in an undeveloped African country. He named this stone aquaplase from "aqua" which means blue sea and "place" which means green.
2012年末、宝石商兼探検家のヤンニ・メラスは、未開拓のアフリカの国でダイヤモンドの探索を断念しようとしていたところ、これまで見たこともないような鉱物を発見した。彼はこの石を、青い海を意味する「アクア」と、緑色を意味する「プラース」から、アクアプラーゼと名付けた。
