Padparadscha sapphires, as the name suggests fall under the sapphire family. Unlike their blue counterparts, Padparadscha sapphires are pinkish-orange in color. The name means lotus blossom in Sinhalese. Due to the rarity of these gemstones, therye cut asymmetrically. Padparadscha sapphires get their salmon pink like color from both the iron and chromium that make up the gemstone. These stones are mined in Madagascar, Tanzania and Sri Lanka.
