Malaia or malaya garnets are typically light to dark, slightly pinkish orange, reddish orange, or yellowish orange in color. Malaya Garnet is only found in Tanzania, in East Africa. The term "malaya" was derived from a Swahili word meaning 'outcast' or 'prostitute'. Miners gave it this name because when it was first discovered, local dealers wouldn't buy it, simply because it didn't fall into any of the standard garnet categories. Malaya garnet has the meaning and properties to regain the lost energy. It is a gemstone which symbolizes “regeneration” and “resurrection”.
