Larimar is an extremely rare blue gem that is found only in the remote mountains of the Dominican Republic. The area wherein the gem is mind is said to be less than a square mile. This gemstone is made from a silicate mineral pectolite with hues that range from blue, green, or even deep vlue. In terms of hardness on the Mohs hardness scale, this gemstone scores 4.5-5 on average. Larimar is also known by many other names such as Blue Pectolite, Atlantic Stone, Setfilias Stone, and Dolphin Stone. Commonly used for jewelry around the Caribbean, pieces of Larimar gemstone are fitted into earrings, bracelets, and rings. Due to the cooling treatment of this gemstone, each pattern is unique so much so that each pattern is one of a kind.
